About Sarah

Sarah Parke wrote her first story about a magical cat. Her second story was also about a cat. They say to “write what you know,” and she knew a lot about cats.

Suffice it to say, she had an early Cat Period, but she eventually moved on to other subjects in a variety of genres, including science fiction, young adult fantasy, and even a historical epistolary novel. Now, her favorite genres to write are historical fantasy and funny contemporary romance.

With the occasional cat.

Sarah holds an MFA in Popular Fiction from the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast MFA program, where she worked with some amazing writers who still inspire her to this day. She’s not much of a short story writer, but she’s published a couple of stories set in the alternate version of England where her current fantasy-in-progress takes place. You can find her work in Speculative City and Horrors of the Deep (Rogue Owl Press).

Sarah spent six years helping authors develop manuscripts and polish their prose in her capacity as an acquiring editor for a regional trade publisher. She also edited Maine Character Energy: A Charity Anthology for Rogue Owl Press. Sarah still enjoys working with authors to troubleshoot prickly plot problems and tighten up narrative threads. If you’re looking for an experienced developmental editor for your manuscript, check out her Services page.

She currently works in digital marketing, helping clients optimize their brands and improve sales. If you’re an author looking for some guidance on social media or your website, contact Sarah about her Author Marketing 101 Package.

When she’s not writing or editing, Sarah enjoys quilting, baking, and DIY-ing home projects with her husband in their 100+ year old New England farmhouse.
